Roman Longginou ‘The Hypokritē’, 2021

OFFSITE EXHIBITION:
'THE HYPOKRITĒS’

We are pleased to present our offsite exhibition with Roman Longginou ‘The Hypokritēs’, presented at Belancē Tailors. Born from the tension between materialism and its spiritual bankruptcy, the artist brings together a series of charcoal drawings that wrestle with theological ideals of idolatry and image making, while exploring themes of luxury, power and identity.

PREVIOUS EXHIBITION:

‘ILLUSIONS OF GRANDEUR’
5TH OF NOVEMBER - 28TH OF NOVEMBER 2020

Masculinity is a layered subject, riddled with tensions between strength and fragility. Roman Longginou’s ‘Illusions Of Grandeur’ navigates this polarity by exploring the underlying pressures of virility through idealised notions of prestige and power. Using recurring motifs of polished armour and pristine car parts contrasted against images of crumpled aluminium and car wrecks, the artist addresses status as an abstract concept and brings to light its ephemeral nature.
